This course is tailored for students who have completed the Quran Reading course and possess basic Quranic reading skills but seek to enhance their proficiency in Tajweed.
Linguistically, the term Tajweed signifies "doing something well" and derives from the Arabic root letters 'Jeem,' 'Waw,' and 'Daal,' which are also present in the word 'Jayyid,' meaning "good." Tajweed refers to the set of rules and guidelines for correctly reciting the Quran. The Quran was revealed with Tajweed, as the angel Jibreel (as) delivered Allah's (swt) words to the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) in a specific manner, and the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) recited it in the permissible way of recitation.
Having a deep understanding of the attributes of each letter in the Quran is crucial, as it prevents any inadvertent changes in the meaning during recitation. It is our duty to honor every letter's essence by recognizing its essential characteristics while reciting the Quran. By doing so, we aim to recite the holy Quran in a manner as close as possible to how the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) recited it, with the hope of earning Allah's blessings, in sha Allah.
